Søren Parmo (1966-), the boy from Ribe, who ended up as the painter from Måløv, Denmark.
Søren is one of the more famous and better-selling Danish artists. His paintings are known in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Greenland, England, Germany, the Netherlands, France, USA, Australia, Canada, China and Thailand. His works also decorate corporate companies, ministries and public buildings.
In his case, it is better to use the general word 'artist' than 'painter' because for most of his intensive career, Søren has never seen limitations in his art, dealt with various things, everywhere, there was the possibility of transferring his works from traditional canvases to something banally practical. For example: 100,000 copies of baking biscuits were decorated with colourful Søren lines or the „Lucky Troll” project, which with its big smile and wide-spread arms raises funds to fight cancer.
We promised Søren that we would not lock him in any artistic drawer. However, to interpret his art, we need to write a few words of explanation. Søren draws inspiration from the international artistic group the COBRA. You can also find a reference to the art of Chagall or Fernand Léger. At the same time, Søren maintains its unique style.
His art is naive, full of humour, criticism of reality and all in the child's style. At the same time, behind this naive artistic painting lies a serious interpretation of reality. Ambiguous titles also complement this message.
